The goals of this book include analysis of the main results of NAFTA since January 1994 and the increasing relevance of China for the nafta region and each of its members. From this perspective, NAFTA, and now USMCA, should explicitly analyze and evaluate the implications of China’s rising presence in the region in several economic sectors and, based on this analysis, offer explicit policy responses to it. This, so far, has not happened either in NAFTA or in USMC.en_US
